I recently finished a trial for the Hydrosense Cooling System.
My OT arranged a one-week trial for the Hydrosense Bed Mattress Cooling System from Alpha Lifecare. I am so thankful that one week turned into two weeks due to some glitch on their part because it has been so hot lately.
What it is essentially, is a mattress cover-like, with water tubes wired through it and it is all hooked up to a cooling unit. The unit itself is not bulky and can easily go on the side table, shelf or under the bed. It is designed to manage and maintain a comfortable temperature.
Energy consumption is 80 Watt, less than a light bulb and cools to 8°C and heats to 48°C. If you are anything like me, with my MS, I am affected by heat and cold, so this machine is a blessing.
There are also other attachments you can get like a chair pad, lumber strap, back & shoulder vest, head & limb wrap and one that I am keen to try later is the foot & leg cuff.
One thing that I need to mention is, it is a little noisy, but I love white noise to sleep to. There is a night mode function on the unit where it goes into whisper quiet mode and has a night setting and built in timer to prevent chills.
I give this machine is big thumbs up and I can't wait for my brilliant OT to submit her request and report to the NDIS when my next review is due.
